Holiday Rambler has built a legacy of over 50 years by providing owners with a wide range of recreational vehicles that provide the most luxury at the best value, and the 2007 Ambassador is a “poster coach” for that ideal.
The Ambassador is offered in the mid-range of Holiday Rambler’s diesel Class A lineup, but the newest upgrades create a very high-class feel. The most notable additions to the 2007 Ambassador include striking full-body paint and a new 40-foot, triple slideout floorplan. But this is not just any floorplan; it’s the 40DFT, a PanaSuite®, full-wall slideout floorplan. This is the latest big addition to Holiday Rambler’s upper end products, and in the Ambassador, the full-wall slideout begins just behind the pilot’s chair, and runs nearly the full length of the coach, stopping at the back of the bedroom.
The result?
“It creates as much interior living space as you can find in a product at this price point,” said Holiday Rambler Brand Manager Rob Taylor. “Moving the refrigerator to the slideout really opens up the kitchen and dining area.”
With this increase in space, the designers were able to include a private half-bath with toilet and sink in the hallway before the bedroom, as well as a spacious full bathroom at the rear of the coach with a second toilet, a wardrobe, an optional washer/dryer, and a larger tub/shower.
“Anybody who has traveled in shared quarters with just one bathroom will be able to appreciate this,” Taylor said. “It makes life much easier, especially for owners with children or grandchildren, or even couples who like to host others.”
Other notable features of the 40DFT include dual sofas, a freestanding dinette, and — as in all 2007 Ambassador floorplans — a large 30-inch-deep bedroom slideout on the curbside. This is where the queen bed is located on an east/west axis.
Many More Choices
While the PanaSuite full-wall slideout floorplan is the hotshot rookie on the team, the other four veteran floorplans in the ’07 Ambassador form a very solid backbone, providing potential owners with more choices to suit different lifestyles and travel preferences.
For example, as the shortest floorplan, the 38PDQ still offers plenty of expansion area with a 30-inch-deep roadside slideout in both the living area and the bedroom. It also offers dual bathroom sinks in separate areas The 40PDQ creates a very similar arrangement, but houses the refrigerator in the slideout for added space, and offers a freestanding dinette instead of the booth arrangement.
The 40-foot PLQ floorplan focuses more attention on the bedroom with two barrel chairs in a rear salon, and the 40SKT is a triple slideout floorplan with a rather unique arrangement at the front of the coach. Instead of housing the living area immediately behind the cockpit, this is where the booth dinette and kitchen are located. Behind that, toward the rear of the coach, facing sofas in the opposing slideouts make up the living area. The 32-inch LCD TV is mounted on a dividing wall here, facing the front of the coach. Overall, it creates a more residential feel to the television viewing area, uninterrupted by the chairs in the cockpit.
Common Upgrades
Each 2007 Ambassador floorplan is distinctive, but there are many new features that grace them all. The new graphics package with full-body paint is the most obvious on initial approach, there are three new tri-color paint schemes: Sand Pebble in shades of maroon, Spanish Moss in sage and grey, and Mirage, offering a darker grey paired with navy.
The new features go deeper than the fiberglass skin, however. Inside the Ambassador, the cabinetry is upgraded, with cathedral cabinet doors on all upper doors. Other fit and finish improvements include polished radius Corian® solid surface kitchen countertops, a new galley range backsplash behind the cooktop, and laminated tile installed under the dinette slideout. In the galley, a pullout Corian countertop extension with drawers adds valuable room for food prep and storage. The sink in the kitchen is an undermounted plexus stone sink, a seamless design for easier clean up.
The laminated tile runner from cockpit to kitchen is a new, easy-clean option in the ’07 Ambassador. Veteran RVers know how difficult it is to maintain carpet in high traffic areas, and the tile makes it a cinch. An optional central vacuum system can also be added to assist on this end, a wise choice for owners who don’t need as much exterior bay storage.
The shower in the 2007 Ambassador has felt the hand of change — a one-piece round shower with reeded glass door is now featured, and the shower height has been increased to just under 79 inches. Creature comfort options include the 32-inch LCD television in the cockpit overhead, the sleep number air mattress in the bedroom, and a Dometic® 14 cubic foot, two-way refrigerator with ice dispenser.
Sensible Stability
The luxury appointments and upgrades in the 2007 Ambassador are riding on an extremely sound chassis, the Roadmaster raised rail RR8R. The “8” stands for eight outboard-mounted airbags and eight gas shocks, which provide stability over bumpy roads. The reduced road shock increases the life of everything riding above the frame.
The solid ride is powered by a Cummins ISC 330 engine with six-speed Allison transmission, and exceptional stopping power comes from the anti-lock braking system with full air brake. This is paired with a push-button exhaust brake, and the automatic traction control offers enhanced

performance on slippery roads. With a 100-gallon fuel tank, the 2007 Ambassador has a long travel range and long dry-camp capacity, especially when considering the 2,000-watt inverter and Onan® 8.0 kW Quiet Diesel generator.
Overall, this is an extremely well-rounded and versatile motorcoach, and the latest upgrades elevate a mid-range product offering to upper level luxury. When it comes to merging sensible value with maximum space and luxury, the 2007 Ambassador achieves an excellent blend, and is likely to appeal to those with a taste for the best of both worlds.
