Thoroughly clean the RV interior. Wear comfortable clothes and rubber gloves. Assemble cleaning supplies and open windows to generate fresh air. Have a couple of empty boxes handy to place items that can be tossed out, and belongings that are no longer necessary to stow in the RV. Keep a pencil and pad handy to jot down additional items that will need to be packed.
Vacuum inside all drawers, cabinets and the wardrobe.
Vacuum window shades and valances.
Adjust shade tension and wipe out window wells.
Vacuum furniture, including crevices. Remove stains using spot remover.
Wipe vinyl and leather with a mild soap solution.
Clear away outdated non-perishable items from the pantry.
Remove air conditioner return air filters located inside the ceiling vent covers. Wash the filters with a mild soap solution and clear water rinse. Wipe inside air conditioner vents to remove dust and debris. When filters are dry, reinstall and replace the vent cover. Turn on the air conditioner system to confirm it is in working order.
Check safety equipment. Replace batteries in the smoke detector, test the CO monitor and have all fire extinguishers serviced by a qualified technician.
Closely inspect caulking in the kitchen and bathroom for signs of wear. Replace as needed.
Organize the vanity cabinet. Throw away all medications with expired dates.
Send the bedspread and throw pillows to the dry cleaners.
Refresh wood surfaces with a quality wood-cleaning product.
Replace batteries in all remotes.
Wipe wall switch plates and lighting with a damp cloth.
Wash wallpaper with a damp cloth and mild soap solution.
Wipe out the refrigerator and freezer boxes.
Change water filters.
Have the carpet professionally cleaned.
Stainless steel appliances should be cleaned with a damp cloth soaked in a mild soap solution. Rinse and dry the surface. Polish with a product specially designed for stainless steel, wiping with the grain.
Build up in the microwave can be removed by filling a microwave safe mug with water and cooking it on high for three minutes. Let the cup sit for another two minutes to allow steam to soften grime before wiping the oven walls with a damp cloth. To eliminate odor, add a few lemon slices to the water before cooking.
Remember to clean the service tools. Empty the vacuum bag, clean the filters, and if necessary, change the vacuum cleaner belt. Wash the broom and mop.
