Sometimes a peaceful nature hike just won’t cut it. You need something a bit more thrilling, where the wind’s in your face and your feet aren’t necessarily on the ground. We put together a short list of extreme and extremely unforgettable experiences right here in the US.
Looking for something other than a peaceful nature hike? You're in the right spot. Check out this list of extreme experiences in the US.
Poconos Mountains, Pennsylvania
Though there are plenty of stunning, thrilling skydiving locales across the country, we’re picking the Poconos because of its repeat appeal. You’ll drop over the foothills and soar across stunning rivers, lakes, and forested peaks. Dive in summer and you’ll soar across every hue of green imaginable. Come back in fall and you’ll sail atop a sea of reds, oranges, and yellows.
Alpine Adventures, New Hampshire
Alpine Adventures offers lots of adventure options in general, but when it comes to zipline experiences we can’t help but get excited about the Super Skyrider Tour. Their “largest, highest, and most extreme tour,” the Super Skyrider is a 3.5-hour test of fearlessness that at points will find you 200’ above the canopy floor and reaching speeds up to 75 mph.
If you prefer the bike over the hike, there are plenty of well-known mountain biking paths to explore. But if you want a beaten path that’s more off the beaten path, this fantastic blog from Bicycling.com covers some of the hidden mountain biking gems right here in the US.
