2021 is here and 2020 is in the history books (let’s leave it there, shall we?). After all, there’s so much to do and so much to catch up on. To help, we have some recommendations on places to visit this year that are outliers and as such, prime for adventure. Epic escapes off the beaten path.
Ok, we promised. Now it’s time to deliver the goods. It’s time to get off to a place that will clear your mind, feed your soul and fill your journey with unforgettable experiences. It’s time to pivot to some unconventional destinations that are could be considered outliers in the RV world, but are ripe for you and your crew to experience to the fullest, then brag up the place.

Camden, Maine
If you love water, seafood, hiking and trails, Camden offers spectacular New England scenery, and Camden Hills State Park features over 30 miles of hiking, walking and running trails. Check out the views from a lighthouse built on an outcrop of bedrock, or charter a sailboat and spend some quality time with some great friends out on the water.

Lake Lure, North Carolina
Called the crown jewel of North Carolina, this stunning lake destination provides a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains provides numerous parks, hiking, biking, camping and more. Come and rent a boat or explore mountain trails to your heart’s content.

Missoula, Montana
Here, you’ll be getting away from it all, yet getting it all at the same time. Missoula boasts amazing nature as well as urban delights, with several gourmet restaurants downtown, near art galleries, museums and breweries. Activities in the boondocks include bird watching, biking, hiking and flyfishing to your heart’s content.

Mammoth Lakes, California
Offering spectacular natural beauty of mountain peaks, Mammoth has plenty to do for almost any outdoor enthusiast, including skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in winter, hiking, fishing, golfing and rock climbing in summer and fall. Camping in Mammoth Lakes among the evergreens is sublime and you’re also close to Yosemite National Park and the legendary “Devils Postpile” rock formation.

There can be little doubt that once you visit any of these out-of-the-way destinations in your Holiday Rambler, you’ll be sharing with your friends and perhaps have a new favorite destination!

As we roll into 2021, you’ll want to update your coach’s tech as well as your personal technologies. Here’s an overview of three things you’ll want to have for this year’s adventures.

Update your coach
Check to see if there are updates to your Nav systems, cameras, solar systems, integrated controllers and other systems in your coach—maximize the technologies you already have. It’s also a good Idea to have any chassis and engine software updates installed as well.

Go solar on the go.
One of the most-useful gadgets to get (if you don’t already have one) is a portable power bank/solar charger for your phone and other devices. Most are only slightly larger than your phone and can be a lifesaver out on the trails, able to charge up via the sun and keep your communications open.

Lock a USB drive using your phone.
Out on the road (or anywhere for that matter), you want to keep personal data safe, yet accessible when and where you want to use it. Now, there are USB drives you can lock and unlock using your smartphone, either by password or biometric unlock. Easy to set up and use, these devices are peak security for your travels.

A quick search of “Top Gadgets for 2021” can turn you on to some devices so new, you probably haven’t yet encountered them all. Give it a try!
